I love the colour purple and all it's different shades.  Like these fall Asters in my garden. In the sun, they're a bright purple.  When it's overcast they're a beautiful dark shade. Historically, purple was associated with royalty or wealth because it was a difficult colour to reproduce. The colour did not come from plant based dyes. It came from the mucus of small mediterranean snails. That must have been a difficult, smelly job!
